Strategic Directions 2005 - 2007

We have identified the following Strategic Directions for the next three years.

To improve the quality of teaching and learning outcomes with a particular focus on Literacy, Numeracy, Information Technology and The Arts.

• Implement explicit teaching strategies in Literacy, Numeracy
• Maintain explicit teaching strategies in Literacy and ICT
• Develop a vibrant Arts program where all students are encouraged to be active participants
• Describe, acknowledge and reward student and staff effort and acheivement

To develop and improve the sense of student and staff well-being.

• Develop and improve social skills
• Develop student voice and leadership
• Maximise the potential for health, fitness and safety of all staff and students

To encourage active participation of all groups and individuals in the Hawthorndene Primary School community.

• Develop positive relationships with feeder kindergartens and Blackwood High School to create a seamless trasnsition and increase retention within the State Education system
• Improve and maximise the use of the physical environment

To prepare students for life within a global society, by nurturing their understanding and appreciation of other cultures and internationalism.

• Continue to promote cultural diversity
• Implementing a successful LOTE program (Languages Other Than English)
